On Wednesday, November 4, Morden Collegiate grade nine students will join grade nine students across Canada in participating in Take Our Kids to Work Day. Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual national program in which grade nine students are hosted by parents, friends, and/or relatives at workplaces across the country. The purpose of the day is for students to engage in career exploration by experiencing a job shadow placement for the day.
“Take Our Kids to Work (TOKTW) invites students in Grade 9 to experience a “day in the life” of various diverse professionals, and to explore and discover possible future career options and opportunities. What does this mean for a grade nine students?
- Students and their families should look for a job placement where the student can shadow an employee of their choice on November 4, 2026. The place of employment must be notified and willing to have a student there for the day. (Note: All students are covered by Manitoba School Board Student Accident Insurance for the day.)
- Attached is a letter that can be given to your employer with information about Take Our Kids to Work Day.
- An information and permission form is required for your student to participate. This is a digital Microsoft Form (link below). It must be filled out by the parent/guardian no later than October 7, 2026.
- On November 4, students who have secured a job opportunity should go directly to their employment for the day and will be marked “School Excused”. Note: MCI will not hold regular classes for grade 9 students on November 4, 2026.
